Dr Kamelgard is an experienced senior level healthcare professional, administrator and surgeon with an entrepreneurial spirit and over twenty-five years of experience in clinical and administrative leadership roles. Highly regarded by executive leadership, peers, subordinates and patients in the delivery of clinical; research and analysis; and executive consulting within both small practice operations and large healthcare group environments.Dr. Kamelgard holds two Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degrees, one in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University College of Engineering and another in Interdisciplinary Biological and Physical Sciences from Touro College. He received his Medical Doctorate (M.D.) from Technion - Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel, graduating Cum Laude. Dr. Kamelgard completed a one-year internship at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, and a five-year General Surgery Residency and a Cardiothoracic Surgery Research fellowship at Allegheny University of the Health Sciences (formerly Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann University Hospital). He completed additional fellowship training in Minimally Invasive Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Tx, before launching his professional career which spanned both academic and private medical practice. In late 2017, Dr Kamelgard relocated from New Jersey to California where in 2018, he transitioned to the role of Medical Director at Elevance Health (and Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield) first for their California Commercial group and in 2023 for their Specialty Appeals and Post Service Review group.Dr Kamelgard’s many achievements include numerous abstracts and scientific articles published in peer reviewed journals, a book chapter, video productions, a patent, as well as holding certifications in SCUBA and as a private pilot.
